HOWARD SOMMERS TOWING SERVICES
In the area of heavy-duty towing, recovery and transport, we believe there is no one who comes close to our expertise and experience developed over more than forty years of the most difficult types of heavy duty towing. Howard Sommers Towing has been a pioneer in the design and development of heavy-duty tow trucks and has the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art trucks and other equipment available.
We are the Southern California heavy-duty tower of last resort, as many tow companies come to us when they can’t handle a job. We have the most experienced, certified heavy-duty drivers in the business. They have towed trains, airplane fuselages, tanks, containers, and every kind of tractor-trailer and truck.
Howard Sommers Towing has on duty at all times, 10 light duty tow trucks and two flatbed carriers. Several of our trucks have low height clearances to allow for access into subterranean garages and other parking structures. All of our tow trucks are equipped with a wheel-lift, damage-free towing system, which we pioneered the use of in 1983. Since service is our number-one priority, we guarantee a fast and courteous response. Our dispatchers, who are supported by our state-of-the-art computer and communications equipment, will make sure an appropriate tow truck from our well-maintained fleet will arrive when and where you need it.
Tow Truck and Equipment Maintenance
Howard Sommers distinguishes itself from other tow companies by employing two full-time, highly experienced mechanics who perform vehicle maintenance on our fleet of trucks. In-house maintenance minimizes delays while vehicles are being serviced and insures safe vehicles. Regular vehicle maintenance covers all portions of the vehicle, including brakes, engine, fluids, transmission, rear end and towing apparatus. Our drivers are required to complete a written assessment of any problems or concerns with their vehicles on a daily basis. The success of our in-house maintenance program was demonstrated when we were awarded the prestigious “Biennial Inspection of Terminals (BIT)” Award from the California Highway Patrol, which only gives the award to large-truck operating facilities which pass its rigorous safety and truck maintenance inspections for four consecutive years.
