FLEET AND FACILITY
Howard Sommers Towing is located in a custom-designed, centrally location facility at 7891 Deering Avenue in Canoga Park. Our headquarters exceeds the requirements of all law enforcement agencies and has a number of innovative features which distinguish it as perhaps the most modern and customer-friendly towing facility in the country. It is open and staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our facility has three acres of secured indoor and outdoor vehicle storage area. Security cameras scan and record all portions of our storage areas. We can store approximately 650 vehicles in a configuration allowing for easy access to each vehicle. The indoor storage area is ideal for exotic or classic car storage. Air quality in the large warehouse is assured with carbon monoxide monitoring equipment and the ability to evacuate 30,000 cubic feet of air per minute should the need arise. We have a state of the art facility with the capability to store many vehicles safely without any danger of damaging your vehicle.
Since service is our number-one priority, we guarantee a fast and courteous response. Our dispatchers, who are supported by our state-of-the-art computer, communication, and GPS guidance systems will make sure an appropriate tow truck from our well maintained fleet will arrive when and where it is needed. The public is met by knowledgeable and skilled drivers who have been trained to handle any towing situation from the family sedan to tractor trailer. We have the ability to deal with the most difficult accidents and recoveries using our specialized equipment. Most of our drivers have been with us for many years, and they are supported by an equally dedicated staff.
Maintenance & Inspection
Howard Sommers distinguishes itself from other tow companies by employing a full-time, highly experienced mechanic who performs vehicle maintenance. In-house maintenance minimizes delays while vehicles are being serviced and ensures safe vehicles. Regular vehicle maintenance covers all portions of the vehicle, including brakes, engine, fluids, transmission, rear end, and towing apparatus. Our drivers are asked to complete a written assessment of any problems or concerns with their vehicles on a daily basis.
The success of Howard Sommers in-house maintenance program was recently demonstrated when it was awarded the prestigious ABIT (Biennial Inspection of Terminals) Award from the California Highway Patrol, which only gives the award to truck operating facilities, which pass its rigorous safety and truck maintenance inspections for four consecutive years.
Howard Sommers Towing has on duty at all times, light duty tow trucks, heavy duty wreckers, and flatbed carriers. Several of our trucks have low height clearances to allow for access into subterranean garages and other parking structures. All of our tow trucks are equipped with a wheel-lift, damage-free towing system, which we pioneered the use of in 1983.
Developed over more than forty years of the most difficult types of heavy duty towing, recovery and transport, there is no one who comes close to our level of expertise and experience. Howard Sommers Towing has been a pioneer in the design and development of heavy-duty tow trucks and has the most sophisticated, best-in-class trucks and equipment available.
We have a noble reputation in Southern California for being called in when other towing companies can’t handle the job. We have the most experienced, certified heavy-duty drivers in the business. They have towed trains, airplane fuselages, tanks, containers, and every kind of tractor-trailer and truck.
